Meals & menus

Meal Planning helps you create reusable weekly menus, generate shopping lists, and share your planned meals with families. Once you've built your meal library, planning future weeks takes only a few minutes.

Planning meals

Create meals in the Meal Library, then drag them onto any day of the week. You can also add individual foods directly to any meal by typing into the food field. Notes may be added to any meal when needed.

Meal library

Your Meal Library stores reusable breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and other meal combinations. Saved meals can be reused as often as you'd like, making future menu planning much faster.

Planning tools
  • 🎲 Randomize month automatically builds approximately four weeks of menus using meals from your library.
  • Duplicate β†’ Next Week and Duplicate β†’ Next Month copy existing meal plans forward while keeping weekdays aligned.
  • Use the ←, β†’, and Today buttons to quickly move between weeks.
  • Save frequently used weekly menus from the Tools page and reuse them whenever you need.
Which meals you serve

Settings β†’ Meals is where you say which meals your day includes and what you call them. Rename anything to match how you talk β€” Supper rather than Dinner β€” reorder them into serving order, and add as many as you need: a program running evenings or overnight might add Supper and Late snack. Those meals become the rows on your planner, the printed menu, and the parent portal.

Renaming a meal keeps everything already planned under it. Removing one hides it from the planner without deleting what was planned β€” add it back and it returns.

Saved foods

Foods are automatically added to your Saved Foods list as you build menus, and you can add them by hand there too. Each food carries three things: a group (fruit, vegetable, grain, protein, dairy) that sorts your shopping list and powers meal requirements; the meals it suits β€” leave every box unchecked to allow it at any meal, or tick Breakfast only for something like oatmeal; and free-text tags for your own cautions, such as β€œcontains nuts”.

AI menu planner

✨ AI menu builds balanced weeks for you using only the foods in your library β€” it never invents a meal or suggests something you don't stock. Pick a starting week and how many weeks to plan (up to four, enough for a month), and each week is written straight into your planner, where you edit, print, and share it exactly as if you'd typed it yourself.

Under Meal requirements you can say what every instance of a meal must contain β€” for example every lunch needs a protein, a grain, and a vegetable. The planner treats those as hard rules. It also varies meals across the week (no repeated breakfasts, no two identical lunches back to back, rotating snacks) and, when you plan several weeks at once, each new week is told what the earlier ones served so your month doesn't repeat itself. Closed days are skipped automatically.

Each generated week uses one AI menu generation from your monthly allowance, so planning four weeks uses four. Menus have their own allowance, separate from AI forms, and editing, printing, and shopping lists are always free. Generating replaces whatever is already planned for those dates, so plan first and hand-edit afterwards. Always review a generated menu for allergies and age-appropriateness before serving.

Shopping lists

Click πŸ›’ Shopping to generate a shopping list for any date range. Wylari combines foods from every planned meal, groups them by category, and lets you add your own custom shopping items before printing or taking the list to the store.

Sharing with families

If enabled under Tools, your weekly meal plan is automatically published to the parent portal so families can see what's being served each day. Closed days are skipped automatically.

Printing

Use πŸ–¨ Print to produce a clean weekly menu for posting in your daycare or sharing with families.

Try it in your own daycare.

Everything in this guide is included in every Wylari plan β€” no add-ons, no per-child fees.
