Safety & maintenance

Safety & maintenance is your digital maintenance log — smoke and CO detectors, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and anything else that needs a recurring check. Each logged inspection sets the next due date automatically, overdue equipment is flagged on your dashboard, and the permanent log gives you a clean record for licensing visits.

Adding equipment
  1. Give the item a clear name, such as Smoke detector — hallway.
  2. Pick a category and note the item's location.
  3. Choose how often it should be checked with Check every — the category fills in a sensible default frequency, and you can adjust it per item.
  4. Click to add it. The item appears in your equipment registry with its next due date.

Items that expire — like fire extinguishers or first aid supplies — can also record an expiration date, so replacements are flagged before they lapse.

Logging inspections

Open an item to record a check. Each inspection is added to a permanent log — what was checked, when, and by whom — and the next due date is set automatically from the item's frequency. Inspection history is never edited or deleted, which is exactly what licensing wants to see.

Staying ahead of due dates
  • Every item shows a status at a glance: OK, Due soon, Overdue, or Expiring.
  • The Needs attention panel and your dashboard surface anything overdue.
  • Upcoming checks appear on your calendar, and a weekly email digest summarizes what's due.
Reports

Use Compliance report for a printable summary of your equipment and inspection history, or download the Equipment CSV and Inspection log CSV for spreadsheets.

Retiring equipment

When something is replaced or removed, retire it instead of deleting it. Retired items move out of your active registry, but their inspection history stays part of your permanent records.

Try it in your own daycare.
